Clin Prof

Bernard Koong

BDSc(W.Aust), MSc(OMR)(Toronto), FICD, FADI, FPFA, MRACDS Bernard is a highly experienced oral and maxillofacial radiologist and is one of the founding partners of Envision Medical Imaging. He is Clinical Professor at The University of Western Australia. He has a long history of teaching oral and maxillofacial radiology at several universities, including The University of Western Australia, The university of Sydney, The University of Hong Kong and Griffith University. It included the provision of the radiology course for the Masters Degree programme in implantology developed by the internationally renowned Prof Klaus Lang. He also contributes to training the Western Australian radiology registrars of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists. As an invited speaker, Bernard has presented more than 100 lectures to the dental and medical professions across Australia and also in the USA, Canada, Malaysia, Singapore, Switzerland, Hong Kong (SAR, China) and New Zealand. He was Vice Chairman and member of the Scientific Committee of the 33rd ADA Congress. Bernard is author of the Atlas of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (Wiley-Blackwell 2017). He is also author of the radiology chapter of the 6th edition of Lindhe and Lang’s Clinical Periodontology and Implant Dentistry (Wiley-Blackwell, 2015). He is a contributing author for Zygomatic Implants (Springer 2020) and the Glossary of Preventive Dentistry and Periodontology (Quintessence Publishing 2015). Bernard has also authored several publications for various professional Australian and international organisations, including the radiology guide for the Australian Dental Association (2019). Bernard is the immediate past president of the Australian Academy of Dento-maxillofacial Radiology. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Clinical Oral Implant Research journal. The only North American qualified oral and maxillofacial radiologist in Australia, Bernard completed his specialist training with the world renowned Professor Michael Pharoah at the University of Toronto, where he was the first oral and maxillofacial radiology registrar to win the prestigious Harron Award and Scholarship. It included training at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto General Hospital and Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto.

Tom Huang

B.D.Sc(Hons I), D.Clin.Dent (DMFR), MRACDS(DMFR) Tom graduated from The University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Dental Science. After working in both the private and public dental sectors, he undertook a three year specialist training program at the University of Queensland and graduated with a Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry specialising in Dento-Maxillofacial Radiology. It included training at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, private radiology practices and at the School of Dentistry. ​ Tom works in full time private specialised practices in Maxillofacial Radiology. He has held positions of visiting lecturer, clinical supervisor and external examiner at the University of Queensland, School of Dentistry and the University of Western Australia, School of Dentistry. Tom has also presented topics in radiology and radiography internationally and continues to have research interests in Cone Beam Computed Tomography. Tom currently consults at Envision Medical Imaging in Perth, Western Australia and reports imaging from dental practices via www.orad.com.au. He is also the Australian regional director for the IADMFR and the president-elect of the AADMFR. ​ Tom has published papers in peer reviewed journals and is contributing author of the publication Atlas of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (Wiley-Blackwell, 2017). He is also a co-author of the ADA's Practical Guide to Dental Radiology (2019)
